This week, a flood of exciting e-commerce news hit our inbox. Three top designer labels – Lanvin, Marc Jacobs and Maison Martin Margiela – have heard the call of avid shoppers who don’t live near one of their outposts by opening virtual stores. While it must be said that part of the luxury of buying designer goods is seeing, smelling and touching the product, these e-shops offer access to hard to track down pieces with a few clicks. Or do they? We took a tour of these three new e-emporiums and have some disappointing results to report: only Maison Martin Margiela offers shipping to Canada. Sometimes it feels like we’re stuck in retail Siberia up here, eh? We urge Mr. Elbaz and Mr. Jacobs to show the Great White North some e-love.
