And the music stops for Toronto’s own Laurieann Gibson who has announced that she is leaving the House of Gaga. After weeks of speculation and rumours of a rocky split, the former creative director and choreographer to Lady Gaga has decided to step away to foster new talents and focus on new projects.
Gibson’s statement on the split:
“I am fulfilled with the work I have done with choreographing all of the iconic moves, creative directing the artist, appearances, shows, directing the tour, music videos, and the HBO Monster Ball, which was a culmination of my work as its creator and director. Recently, Lady Gaga was motivated to take the helm of the creative direction of her career and as such I decided to step away. I am extremely proud of her, and in stepping away I wish her all the best. I look forward to continuing my work with notable artists, as well as new artists that are part of my Interscope Records deal, and the upcoming seasons of my TV shows.” [THR]
Earlier this year, Gaga brought Gibson on stage at the 2011 Much Music Video Awards to celebrate their win for International Video of the Year. Their collaboration on Judas, and other Gaga clips and performances, will forever define Mother Monster’s continually evolving image in the public eye.
