Kate Hudson’s certainly had an adept red carpet turn in the last few months. She’s slowly crept her way to the top of our best-dressed lists, McQueen and McQueen again. Now, her couture-level style will be the inspiration behind a summer capsule collection with Ann Taylor, reported Women’s Wear Daily.
Hudson, who has served as the celebrity face for the versatile clothing retailer and will again for a third campaign this season, is dipping her toes into the broad waters of fashion design for the first time. Working with Ann Taylor’s creative director Lisa Axelson, the Hudson-helmed capsule collection will see a lineup of red-carpet ready looks, redefined for the musings of everyday life. The full collection will be expected in Ann Taylor stores come May.
“Ann Taylor is great at creating iconic wardrobe staples and updating them season after season. I love that Lisa Axelson is designing clothes for real women,” Hudson told WWD.
The actress is also bringing her mentoring efforts to Ann’s table, by joining the advisory council for Ann Inc.’s ANNpower Vital Voices Initiative, directed at enabling young women to serve as global leaders. All the power to Hudson. Here’s to hoping the collection will bear gaping cowl necks, embellished collars and high slits in return for her good deeds.
