In a season full of new labels, it was comforting to see an established name such as Joeffer Caoc once again showing after taking last season off. Known for his clean office-to-after hours staples beloved by modern career women, the designer surprised with a number of witty takes on sports signatures. While opening looks aired on the too-casual side (jersey brights, cropped sweatpants, tank-dresses), soon we were treated to luxe mesh-layered hoodies, elegant anoraks and net-covered gold basketball pants. Yes, there is such a thing. An odd outing of white and light brown sequin print frocks followed. But quickly recapturing his strong sportive mood, Coac rebounded (sorry, can’t help it) with racer-stripe tweed jacket and tap shorts duos in sweet pinks and icy blues, plus enough work-ready shift dresses to keep his lady-loyalists pleased. Pastel tweed can veer cloyingly sweet if not treated with irreverence. With Caoc’s athletica aesthetic, it was both covetable and fresh.
