Fortune Teller Rings
This spring's hands-on directive isn't the singular gem-encrusted gobstopper of season's past. As Nicolas Ghesquière's swan song at Balenciaga clearly showed, the way to wear rings right now is by the handful. And the bold yet streamlined metallic spirals pack serious punch in their aesthetic likeness to brass knuckles. (This iteration is refined and peace-loving, we promise!) Wearing a fistful of heavy metal bands not only draws the eye to one's digits, but the continual loops worn on each and every finger, under knuckles and over, also inherently change anatomical movement. In a particularly "handy" world, with our perpetual tap-tap-tap on keyboards and touch screens, our fingers are the ultimate mobilizers. We can't help but imagine these geo-elegant rings give our every tweet more heft. And the playfulness inherent in mixing and matching—Hermès' silver sculpture, say, with Repossi's skeletal framework and organic furl by Tous—is a super-polished version of hip-hop's "kiss the ring" knuckle-duster excess. On second thought, we rescind the peace treaty: there's no doubt a clutch of metal is an optical one-two jab. —Emily Ramshaw
