Jay Manuel has made a name for himself as part of Tyra Banks’ fierce entourage scouting talent on America’s Top Model and as the host for Canada’s Next Top Model, and now he’s putting his own mark on fashion with a new collection for Sears Canada. The Toronto native has inked a multi-year deal as the creative director of Attitude Jay Manuel, under the retailer’s private label. The silver-haired fashion veteran will bring his unique background and expertise to his new role and will be involved in all aspects of the collection from product development to design. “Throughout my career I’ve travelled the world, working with designers and creative visionaries in the fashion business, learning the art of women’s design,” Manuel stated in a release. “A good fit and draping fabric was something I learned at an early age, as my grandfather was a respected tailor. The time is right to return home to Canada and bring all my worldly inspirations to a fashion line that empowers women.”
Like the main Attitude line, Manuel’s range will focus on wardrobe staples and, in addition to the clothing, will include shoes, bags and accessories. The line, which will range in price from $12 to $140, will be shown on March 30 as part of Toronto Fashion Week.
