Jason Wu’s fashion star keeps shining brighter and brighter. Since launching his eponymous label in 2007, the Taiwanese-born designer has quickly become a staple on the red carpet and with First Lady Michelle Obama. With a CFDA Swarovski Award for Womenswear and Target capsule collection under his belt, it has been announced Wu’s next big move is to take over as artistic director at BOSS, Hugo Boss’ womenswear line.
The savvy New Yorker will likely breathe a young fresh energy into the line and as Hugo Boss’ CEO Claus Dietrich Lahrs notes, Wu will play a key role in the brand’s renewed emphasis on their women’s clothes and accessories. He explains Wu’s new position “…will generate a powerful and creative statement for BOSS Womenswear and show our commitment to focus even more on the female side of the brand.”
Overseeing the team at BOSS headquarters in Germany, as well as in an upcoming New York-based BOSS design studio, the collaboration will allow the 30-year old designer to reach stylish women on an international level, sure to make him even more of a household high-fashion name. “I have long been a fan of Hugo Boss’ vast tradition and lineage in extraordinary tailoring,” he said. “With the state-of-the-art facilities that are unique to the Hugo Boss design labs, I plan to develop a strong, feminine womenswear collection that reciprocates the brand’s authority in menswear.”
There is no doubt many eyes will be on Jason Wu when he makes his BOSS debut in New York during pre-fall 2014. Fashionable fans will surely be excited to see how he incorporates signature elements of both American sportswear and elegant sophistication into his line at BOSS.
