Designer Jason Wu is readying to launch a new contemporary line, Miss Wu with retailer Nordstrom, expected to hit stores this January.
Miss Wu’s inception began while the designer was working on his collaboration with mass retailer Target earlier this year, and the popularity and success of the range confirmed the demand for a lower-priced line.
The line’s name comes from Wu’s emblem, the cartoony owl that adorns his designs. The label will explore another side of the designer’s aesthetic, the same way his Target collection did—think less ballgowns, more downtown, and aimed at a younger demographic.
The collection will first launch with ready-to-wear pieces, expanding into accessories in 2014. Shoppers will be able to shop Miss Wu on Nordstrom.com for the first year, but can expect a global launch as the concept grows.
