It’s Official: Joe Fresh is Headed to New York

The Canadian retail chain is expanding south of the border

As has been widely rumoured, it’s been confirmed that Canada’s Joe Fresh is New York City bound. The five-year-old brand has become a Canuck wardrobe staple and with Joe’s first international location, opening this fall, U.S. customers will get a taste of Canadiana style. A step up from the frozen food section, the cheap-chic retailer will now occupy some of the most prized retail space in the world—the historic glass box on the corner of Fifth Avenue and 43rd Street—alongside some of the most fashionable retailers in the world.

The decision to expand south of the border was made after frequent customer requests from fans in the U.S., “We felt it was time to make the first step into the international market with a store in the American fashion capital, and one of the most exciting cities in the world, New York,” says Joe Fresh creative director, Joseph Mimran. Wasting no time getting acquainted with the New York fashion scene, Joe Fresh recently sponsored nail polish with nail guru Jin Soon Choi for the Doo.Ri and Theory Fall 2011 shows during New York Fashion Week where the covetable nail shades graced the fingers of models on the catwalk.

In addition to the New York store, the Joe Fresh brand will be opening 20 stand-alone stores in Canada over the coming months. Four locations were recently announced to open in malls in Ontario and Alberta for Spring 2011 and two new studio stores are slated to open in Toronto late 2011.
