Last July, IMG, the former lead sponsor of Toronto Fashion Week, announced they’d no longer be supporting the biggest fashion event in the country. Since then, select organizations have stepped forward to take it on, and the latest is Yorkdale Shopping Centre.

The mall just announced that on October 16 and 17, they’ll be hosting an event called FashionCan, a mix of runway shows and presentations to showcase established and emerging Canadian designers. And they won’t be doing it alone—the Canadian Arts and Fashion Awards has stepped in to help connect Yorkdale with Toronto’s fashion insider community.

Several designers have already confirmed their participation in FashionCan, including Mikhael Kale, Pink Tartan and UNTTLD. The two-day event will take place in Yorkdale’s brand new expansion wing, which will officially open as soon as FashionCan wraps.
