iPad And Paper: New York Fashion Week Show-Goers Live Sketch The Runway From An App
Women’s Wear Daily asked top fashion illustrators to cover the coveted runways of New York Fashion Week by sketching them digitally. Using FiftyThree’s iPad app Paper, fast moving fingers captured catwalk trends, models and more, even publishing looks before the show’s finale.
“I’ll have about half a dozen drawings, and I can upload them instantly…before the photographers make it back to the lab!” said Danielle Meder of the responsive technology, which has saved her a seat at high status shows like Alexander Wang and Yigal Azrouël. The Torontonian was one of many to revive the vanished art of live runway illustration this Fall 2013 season with WWD.
“To have my work displayed on WWD.com is an honour,” she said. “[This] is a profound moment in the history of the art of fashion illustration that I am proud to play a role in.”
