NYFW Day 7
We laughed, we cried, we photobombed Carine Roitfeld. NYFW is over and we definitely learned some things. Here are three lessons from fashion week that I am totally going to apply to my everyday hustle.
- I don't actually need a gigantic bag: I've always loved the idea of a clutch or crossbody for everyday but dismissed the thought outright, because how would I survive without my three back-up lipsticks (for those last-minute cocktail parties that never happen), contact lens solution (what if I get something in my eye??), hand sanitizer (because germs), emergency deo (it might get hot), travel Polysporin (paper cuts are real, people!), SPF (UV rays!!!), etc., etc.? Apparently, just fine. This season, I decided to leave my bag of what-ifs at home and tackle fashion week with my very small Mackage Rubie. And you know what? It was goddamn liberating.
- I might try the whole no-makeup thing: If you've been following my diary, you know that I ran out of tinted moisturizer pretty much as soon as I arrived in NYC, which means I've been wandering around with nothing on my skin all week. And the world didn't end! So I've been thinking maybe I'll save myself $50 and not buy a new tube when I get home. Bolstering my resolve is the fact that the makeup at Alexander Wang was, once again, literally no makeup. Zero. The only thing the models had on their faces was moisturizer. So at least I'll be on trend!
- I should move more: I've done more walking in New York this week than I usually do in a month, which is just sad. I could probably stand to break a sweat every now and then. I've heard spinning is a thing...
