LFW Day 5
The fifth and final day of London Fashion Week is always extra quiet, since many editors and buyers head home by midday or are already en route to Milan for the next set of shows. I started the day off touring Topshop's amazing flagship store at Oxford Circus; I couldn't believe that they have a cupcake stand, dedicated sneaker area AND huge vintage-only section alongside all the regular departments! Next up was the Anya Hindmarch showcase, which wowed the audience with its impressive mirrored set and highly choreographed show, interpretive dancers in full-body leotards included. My last show of the season (thanks to London's horrendous traffic) ended up being Marques'Almeida; their signature frayed dark denim is still part of the collection, but it was lovely to see the designers branch out into sheer silk dresses, more tailored linen coats and suede culottes as well. The last day is also when I find time to resee collections and discover emerging brands at the LFW showspace. It was great to touch and feel the weight of the runway flatforms (pretty chunky) and talk about the new mini buckle bag (start saving up now!) at Burberry HQ. Expect to see some of these discoveries in upcoming issues of FLARE!
