Question: I’m in my late 30’s and I’m planning taking a few trips in the near future. The problem is I’m really bad packer. How can I pack light and reasonable, while also being age-appropriate?

Answer: Regardless of your age, a great travel wardrobe begins with the basics. Start building your wardrobe with essentials; pieces that go from day to evening with ease.

A black suit in a stretch fabric is the perfect travel outfit- it repels dirt and can be styled for a casual day walking the city or dressed up for an evening dinner (Teenflo, Theory). You need to build from the inside out now; cotton underpinnings like scoopneck tees and tanks in a cotton/lycra blend are a smart choice (Gap, Smart Set). A lightweight cashmere cardigan (Holt Renfrew Private Brand) keeps you warm on chilly nights while a lightweight trench (Banana Republic) is necessary for rainy days.

Don’t forget the fun pieces – a stripe tee (H&M) will keep you chic and cool during the day while a gold lurex tank (INC) is the perfect dinner companion.
