The rumours continue to swirl around Kanye West’s womenswear collection, set to debut during Paris Fashion Week, and we are just as curious as the rest of the world to discover what is up the rap star’s sleeve.

Though West is not new to the design world, having created a shoe collection for Louis Vuitton and a line of silk scarves for M/M (Paris), his new assemblage of ready-to-wear designs has been widely anticipated because it is his most expansive collection to date and is cloaked in secrecy.

Sighted this past week at London Fashion Week, West refused to dish on his upcoming line. Instead, an industry insider claims that the collection gets its inspiration from Japan, as well as designers such as Balenciaga and Azzedine Alaïa. It seems to be “based on [the] Samurai, with lots of sporty garments, but in luxury fabrics, with embellishments, embroidery, [and] gold chainmail.” The ready-to-wear line is said to have a “sports-luxe” feel and includes hoodies and biker-style jackets in ivory, gold and peach. The insider also stated that Kanye is knowledgeable and opinionated when it comes to fashion, but that his perfectionism makes for a slow process. S/he even suggested that Kanye’s indecisiveness may mean that the clothing will not be ready for the catwalk by Paris Fashion Week.
