Move over turquoise, there’s a new colour in town. Honeysuckle, the intense orangey-pink hue named after the honeysuckle flower, has just been named the official colour of 2011. Every year, the colour gods at Pantone Colour Institute select the hottest hue that they forecast will have the broadest appeal in the coming year. Perhaps this year, the colour gurus drew their inspiration from the spring ’11 collections, where flashes of the sherbety shade were rampant on the runways. Pops of pick-me-up pink were seen at a slew of shows, including Valentino, Dior, Cacharel and Antonio Marras. Designer’s vision for spring was definitely seen through rose-coloured glasses, as the uplifting pink pigments offered a stark contrast to the muted tones that dominated the fall collections. We can’t wait to get our hands on this tantalizing tint that is emerging as a major colour trend for the spring season.
