In-stores now was the message this eve at Holt Renfrew’s opening show at Toronto Fashion Week. The mega-bucks retailer launched the Spring 2013 season in style with the greatest hits from Fall 2012. Yes, the luxury store stepped back a season (in industry terms) to showcase their current offering with a “shop now” attitude. Unlike their usual all-Canadian cast of labels, Holt’s mixed in some of the world’s leading houses into their 67 look presentation including numbers by Victoria Beckham, Tom Ford, YSL, Kenzo, Céline, Burberry Porsum and more. Homegrown names were also present on the runway including DSquared2, Jeremy Laing, Smythe and accessories by Ela Handbags, Dean Davidson and Maryam Keyhani.
While attendees enjoyed looks from the retailer’s racks, insiders were given a preview at next season’s line-up during a private breakfast presentation held last week. Jeremy Laing, Greta Constantine, Wayne Clark and more presented their Spring 2013 line-up to the intimate crowd. Four looks per label were on display–hinting at what we’ll find once the snow melts.
As changeover started along the retailer’s windows on Bloor St. that were glittering in magenta over the summer months, Holt’s 175th anniversary has finally come to a close and unsurprisingly went out with a splash on the runway.
