How did Gap Inc. celebrate the end of 2012? By buying a brand new label!

The big box giant, which owns the Gap, Old Navy, Banana Republic, Athleta and Piperlime, have just acquired luxury retailer Intermix for a cool $130 million. What does this mean? With its first and only international location in the heart of Toronto’s shopping district, expect to find more glossy Intermix shops popping up around the world, as well as an even better online e-tail experience.

The 19-year label founded by brothers Khajak and Haro Keledjian hosts a slew of fashion’s finest including Azzedine Alaïa, Jimmy Choo, Stella McCartney, Proenza Schouler, Helmut Lang and more. With Canada’s own Glenn Murphy at the top of the chain at Gap Inc., expect to see more “Coming Soon” signs popping up across the nation in the months to come.
