Canada’s style savant terrible, designer Rad Hourani, isn’t content to just have the fashion pack in awe of his unisex creations. A true renaissance garçon, this Montreal native has Paris a-buzz with a new exhibition at Galerie Joyce. Entitled Transclassic, a curate of Hourani’s innovative Classic Collection of gender-neutral togs. Think audio, film noir and photography featuring top models such as Helena Christensen, Elisa Sednaoui (Chanel muse, actress and niece of Christian Louboutin) Canadian cover girl Tasha Tilberg, Bridget Hall and Byrdie Bell.
We asked our June She’s Got Flare girl, art historian and style blogger Magdalyn Asimakis for her take. “It bridges the gap between art and fashion at the same time as Hourani’s collection bridges the aesthetic gap between genders,” says Asimakis. “The curation of this exhibit draws attention to fashion as an art that moves as quickly as we live. By freezing it in a display, one can observe the depth of the designer’s creativity, skill, and intelligence, just as they would with traditional art.”
Those looking to satisfy their curiosity can view Transclassic from June. 24th to July 22nd.
