Toms founder Blake Mycoskie and wife Heather
Call it a Christmas miracle, but I have Target and Toms to thank for my newfound warm-and-fuzzies. As one of 700 people who rang in the holidays at the Toms for Target launch party in Los Angeles last night, I merrily ate (chicken ’n’ waffles and mac ’n’ cheese), shopped (the entire collection was available to party-goers ahead of the official launch this weekend) and photo-bombed (there was a videobooth involving giant sweaters that fit up to 10 people—need I say more?) my way into actually looking forward to the holiday shopping this year.
Hollywood do-gooders Jessica Alba, Jennifer Garner and Sarah Hyland came out to support the collaboration (which includes everything from swiss-dotted chambrays to blankets to classic Toms slip-ons) and (more importantly) the cause: for every item sold Target will donate shoes, blankets or meals to people in need.
“I wanted to launch the collection early in the season when the holiday spirit is still positive and exciting and thankful,” say Toms founder Blake Mycoskie. “It’s amazing to think that the collection will only be in stores for one month but in that time we’re going to do 11 million gives! I’m really proud of that.” Feeling those warm-and-fuzzies yet?
