The long weekend has passed and summer is finally here! That means the shorts come out and the layers get light, but that doesn’t mean you need to shop for a whole new wardrobe.
Natalie Hunt, one of our followers on Twitter, asked: “Where can a girl find a light white T-shirt and tank, with value? This has become an epic search!” And Natalie, we’re here to help!
First off, there’s no such thing as a perfect T-shirt or tank but that’s to your benefit (read: options!). Before you shop, think about whether it’s a top layer that’ll be seen or just an underpinning. For the latter, we love the basics at Gap and Club Monaco, they’re always full of fresh whites and ready to go. Be sure to try each one on as you never know whether it’s a basic made for fall weather or the summer season. The weaves get thicker as the months get cooler. And once you find “the one” be sure to stock up. You can never have too many basics.
For tees and tanks that are meant to be seen, try James Perse or T by Alexander Wang, they always have the best blends in cotton for that nonchalant cool look. If you find those options to be a bit too high, try American Apparel which offers a range of white tops from burnt out (think camo-meets-sheer) to mullet-cuts (short in the front, long in the back).
