Greg Chait of The Elder Statesman and runners-up Tabitha Simmons and Jennifer Meyer
The first designs for J.Crew from the 2012 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winners were revealed to the world today: anticipated by all, but especially by that particular type of fashion follower—the collaboration collector. The first peek includes a sporty cashmere tank , frilly floral sandals and geometric glass earrings. The fund, created to support up-and-coming American designers, bestowed its finances and mentorship this past year on Greg Chait of The Elder Statesman—known for his luxe yet folksy pieces, homemade textiles, patchwork and knits. Runners-up Tabitha Simmons—designer of feminine heels with an English vibe—and Jennifer Meyer—jewellery craftswoman and wife of Tobey Maguire—also add their expertise to limited edition accessories for the label.
The trio of collections will be available online starting May 22, but sign up at jcrew.com on May 8 to receive a link to shop the line a day early.
