I don’t know about you but I plan my outfits around my feet. My day’s first decision is what shoes do I feel like wearing – what feeling do I want when I strap on my heels? This season, the runway was littered with plenty of fabulous footwear to inspire your creative wardrobe choices. My top picks focus on embellishment and shine.
Christian Louboutin for Phillip Lim 3.1, Spring 2009
Absolutely. Stunning. My. Favourite.
Louis Vuitton

Everything about LV’s Parisian jazz inspired show was spectacular. I couldn’t take my eyes off the beaded and feathered shoes. The clothes on the runway were just as embellished – I’d wear them with a minimal dress (LBD would be perfect) for the highest impact.
Yves Saint Laurent

The cage treatment looks uncomfortable but I love how it shows off your legs. Careful grooming – weekly pedicures – are mandatory.
Prada

The black socks paired with these vertiginous heels were responsible for sending models flailing face-first on the runway. Without them, these reptile skin heels are a versatile partner for all of the khaki, black and cream pieces in your wardrobe.
Lanvin

While the silhouette is retro, these pumps look so ‘now’ with all of their stunning jewels and beads – and the printed cap-toe is a surprise.
Miu Miu

I liked the two-tone satin look at first glance but wear these for a few months and you’ll be left with a tattered mess. Pass.
Marc Jacobs
Marc Jacobs, Spring 2009
I’m not sure why this heel has been pushed forward but I do love the colour combo.
Anna Sui

I always feel like gladiators should be worn by beefy boys with swords – but in this case, the mauve is awfully sweet.
Chloé
Chloé, Spring 2009
Who would ever thought we’d find a coloured shoe that would look as hot on an urban chicette as a Palm Beach granny. Bravo!
Balmain
Balmain, Spring 2009
An obsession with all things Balmain is fuelling the fashion world and these sparkly studded sandals prove why – sexy, shiny and totally wearable.
