Fashion Star: Nicole Richie

The starlet dishes on design, personal style rules and her biggest regrets

Nicole Richie is living a not-so-simple life right now. Not only is the 29-year-old mom of two, the creative director behind two fashion labels — her clothing line Winter Kate and jewelery line House of Harlow 1960 (available at Holt Renfrew) — she’s also reprising her ass-kicking role on NBC’s Chuck and has just released her new book Priceless this fall. Flare.com sat down with the starlet as she dishes on designing, regrets, Twitter and her fall shopping list.  

How would you describe your design style?
Comfortable and classic.

What are three must haves from your current collection?
The beaded moccasins, the sunglasses and the jumpsuit.

Do you follow a personal style rule?
No.

What’s your biggest fashion and/or beauty regret?
None. It’s all a part of growing up.

What’s your can’t-live-without-it product?
I’m big on hand-lotion and face spray.

Reason for Tweeting?
To connect with people who are supporting my brand, my art and my work and to keep them informed with what’s next.

Other than your own, what is your favorite fashion label?
Right now, I’m really loving Isabel Marant.

What’s the #1 item on your fall shopping list?
I just got a pair of Christian Louboutin’s with spikes all over them.

What’s the best thing about your job?
That I can have many different jobs.

If you could come back as any article of clothing, what would it be?
A sweater. I like to be warm.

What do you wear to instantly perk you up? (i.e. what’s your fail-safe outfit)
Any mod dress.

What’s your most treasured possession? 
I have a pair of vintage Chanel white, round sunglasses.

What’s your biggest indulgence and why?

Fast food. I have no self-control.

What are you obsessed with right now?

Grey’s Anatomy.
