Canadian designer Nada Shepherd has announced she will be shutting down her label NADA, effective immediately. Following a whirlwind of growth over the past year, including a buzzy pop-up shop in Toronto and new fragrance, Shepherd is putting her business on pause for the first time since 2004.

In an exclusive statement to FLARE, Shepherd reveals the reason behind her decision:

“We’ve loved making NADA and nada nuff and it’s with a heavy heart that we have decided to suspend operations. The Fall/Winter 2011 collection will be our last and available on our website. The opportunity just wasn’t there to make that jump to the next level.  It was important to me that we remained empowered to make business decisions that were right for us. We are not closing NADA the company, only suspending operations after this season. It was also important to me to do this right, respectfully and gracefully. I wanted to make sure we didn’t leave anyone in a bad position and that we maintained the amazing relationships with our vendors, my team and our customers. I would like to extend a huge thank you to FLARE for your support over the years, we are honoured to have been a part of your pages.”
