What do labels such as Erin Kleinberg, EDIT by Jeanne Beker, Jay Godfrey and Laura Fine all have in common? Strong ties to the Jewish community. We recently attended BAC2Fashion‘s annual showcase of design talent at Wychwood Barns. Proceeds raised from the evening’s festivities benefitted the UJA Federation of Greater Toronto’s commendable outreach programs for seniors – a number of whom are holocaust survivors. Raising $35 000, you could say the event was a shmatte-chic success.
The lively show featured impressive dance performances and a fleet of over 30 volunteer models – all from this fervent community with deep roots in the fashion design and manufacturing industry of Toronto. With veteran’s like retail icon Joy Cherry in attendance (sporting spring’s covetable basket-weave Prada pumps, no less) the night was a runaway hit.
