What do you get when you give 25 top Canadian designers six yards of traditional African cloth and let them work their magic? Why, the annual Dare To Wear Love fashion show on March 16 at 9:00pm. Benefitting the esteemed Stephen Lewis Foundation (the Order of Canada recipient himself is also speaking), the open-to-the-public, ticketed event raises funds for community-level organizations devoted to people living with HIV and AIDS in Africa. Hoax Couture design duo (and Toronto team captains) Jim Searle and Chris Tyrell have lined up a host of worthy models – from FashionTelevision’s Jeanne Beker to Canada’s Got Talent’s Dina Pugliese – to wear works from a slew of favorite Canadian labels such as Greta Constantine, Lidy Biday, Adrian Wu and David Dixon. “The diversity of design talent, plus the lack of ego and total commitment to social justice is inspiring,” says Tyrell on the designers him and Searle have enlisted. A live auction and slew of luxe prizes make this a feel-good fashion week send-off. Click here for tickets and see you at the show.
