In its 8th year, Cashmere hit the runway once again as the 2011 White Cashmere Collection. The show, which benefits the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, was held at Toronto’s AGO. The art gallery was transformed with appropriate glossy-white runway and sparkling chandeliers. Designers such as Mikki Rizvi, Rita Tesolin and Simon Bélanger put out creations that were curated by Canadian designer Farley Chatto with the Rococo and Baroque eras serving as inspiration. Most impressive were the Jason Malto and Hoax Couture designs, which baffled the crowd that any trace of bathroom tissue was even involved. Just as last year, 25 cents from each package sold of Cashmere printed pink tissue will go to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation through the month of October. To increase the donation amount, fans can vote for their favourite design, with $10,000 to be donated to the cause in the winning designer’s name. To see the designs up close, visit The Bay’s flagship locations in Toronto and Montreal this month as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Think of it as couture with a cause.
