Toronto-based fashion insider Gail McInnes, owner of Magnet Creative, has been nominated for the Scottish Fashion Awards’ Communicator of the Year title.

McInnes, who was born in Glasgow, has been a part of the Canadian fashion industry for over 14 years, fostering young talent and leading them beyond our borders. Recognized for her charm and business savvy, McInnes reflects on the notable nomination: “I am so incredibly proud of my roots and I feel extremely lucky, at the same time, to live in Canada which has a rich history filled with predominant Scottish leaders. It just goes to show, you can take the girl out of Scotland, you can’t take the Scotland out of the girl.”

In the same category is another nominee with Canadian ties, Daniel Stern, half of the duo behind street style blog Les Garçons de Glasgow, is a graduate of the University of Toronto. He and blogging partner Jonathan Pryce have been recognized as one of the leading street style bloggers across the UK.

Designer of the Year nominees include Christopher Kane and Jonathan Saunders, while actress Tilda Swinton for is up for Fashion Icon.

The Scottish Fashion Awards will be held on June 15.
