Because her duties as a record-breaking megastar, Dior model and creative director at Puma aren’t keeping her busy enough, Rihanna has taken on a fourth job as an ambassador and contributing creative director of Stance, a U.S. sock brand known for its bold designs and collaborations with artists (likeTaylor Swift buddies Haim) and athletes (professional racers, skaters and NBA-ers among them).
RiRi has signed a multi-year contract to design several seasons’ worth of women’s socks; her first collection—pun-tastically dubbed “Murder Rih Wrote”—features over-the-knee and crew styles in graphic red, black and white prints that will be sold this fall in limited-edition mix-and-match sets of three.
“I’ve had a great relationship with Stance for a long time and I am happy to be working with them on such a fun and creative project,” says the star, whose personal style is famously, amazingly unpredictable (Pink fur! Leather pants! Pastel suits! Pyjamas! Stair-spanning luxurious gowns!).
Rihanna X Stance will follow up with a further 18 styles (out in September) and a holiday collection in November (Santa smoking a blunt? Rudolph making it rain? The possibilities are endless).
“Rihanna epitomizes what it means to dress by your own rules,” says Candy Harris, SVP of Stance’s Women’s Division. “This is a seminal moment for the sock category because together, Rihanna and Stance have the ability to take an accessory you’ve never thought of and transform it into one you can’t live without.” Indeed, Candy. Indeed.
