When it comes to celebrity fashion labels, Victoria Beckham reigns at the top of the list, with her line of essential dresses, and now, luxury handbags. So it comes as no surprise that husband and soccer star David Beckham has announced the launch of his new label.
The celebrated UK couple have graced many splashy campaigns, both together and separately, but when it came to their Armani underwear adverts the buzz was palpable. Following four successful seasons as the faces of Armani underwear, David Beckham will make his first foray in fashion as a bodywear designer.
Packaged with a new logo design created by Stella McCartney’s husband Alasdhair Willis, this collection will be the first led by David Beckham himself. In the past, the sports figure has faced many brands including Adidas, Pepsi and Motorola, but now Beckham is building the ground work for his own fashion empire.
This September, Beckham will enter the fashion ring with his third fragrance for men – Homme by David Beckham – and follow-up with a range of bodywear essentials (à la Calvin Klein), which the soccer star confirms will be fronted by a fresh round of Beckham billboards.
