Behind-the-Shoot: National Treasures

Take a glimpse at the make-of our National Treasures shoot featuring Canada’s top designers

by

There are only 4 days left till the start of Toronto Fashion Week and before Canada’s top designers hit the runway, we celebrate them in our November issue, titling them as our National Treasures.

Standing tall amongst the sleek backdrop of Toronto’s financial district, models Kate Somers and Elise Hélène Gatschene (Elmer Olsen Model Management) donned an edited group of hard-edge pieces that were sharp-cut and au courant, all shot in the midst of the early morning rush.

Cruising under was photographer Ishi, who surfed the city blocks on a skateboard to capture the bold angles of our patriotic duo.

Whether shimmering in the pieces by Rad Hourani, Morales and David Dixon or playing with shapes in Evan Biddell, Denis Gagnon and Lida Biday, the mega-watt looks stood out amongst the crowds of suits and cellphone-ready snappers.

With hours spent weaving the downtown core in a less-than-glamorous trailer and scoping out camera-worthy locations, our 10-page spread of the nations finest leaves us with one question – what will they think of next?

Check out National Treasures now in the November issue of FLARE.
