Getting dressed to the nines for a big bash only to arrive to an empty room may sound like a nightmare, but it served as the perfect inspiration for FLARE‘s January shoot. Hair and makeup artist Tony Masciangelo styled candy-coloured wigs to add a quirky vibe to Fashion Director Elizabeth Cabral’s selects of the season’s most covetable gowns and jaw-dropping extras.
The Drake Hotel provided the ultimate backdrop for the shoot: a luxurious setting tinged with a touch of retro. Andrew Soule’s camera captured Canadian favourite Yasmin Warsame as she commanded the empty room, looking drop-dead gorgeous while waiting for a party that would never arrive.
Not wanting to overstay our welcome, the all-star team was a well-oiled machine, fitting in eight looks in eight hours – an impressive feat when most shoots can easily last upwards of ten hours! The fast pace on set was worth it to bring you the cool, easy glamour you see on each page. — Matthew Biehl
