From The Waterfront space in NYC’s Chelsea district, Banana Republic showcased it’s SS 11′ collection both live and (for the first time ever) streamed simultaneously online. Opening with a head-to-toe white look, this season the focus was on soft utilitarianism – safari coats, lightweight leather and cut-off trenches paired with longer skirts, cropped pants, and printed sun dresses. The collection had an airiness about it  due in large to the fluid, organic fabrics (namely linen, silk and cotton), and mostly muted palette. There was also an effortlessness to the styling – a simplistic sophistication that was elevated by the superb accessories including floppy hats, cat-eye sunglasses, wooden clogs and leather box bags. But it really hit its stride in the final looks – an assortment of colourful prints, breezy-cut dresses and tribal jewelry.
