After news of Christophe Decarnin’s exit from the house of Balmain, lovers of the design label have been awaiting word of who might come next. Rumours suggested that house owners would go with an unknown name in order to support a lesser-known talent. Finally, rumours have been put to rest with confirmation that Olivier Rousteing will succeed Decarnin. Although widely unknown, Rousteing makes for a natural fit since he has been in charge of womenswear at the house, working under his predecessor, for the past three years. The only question left is whether or not Rousteing will maintain Balmain’s now-iconic edge.
