“Is that her? I can’t tell. Maybe it’s a doppelgänger…”
Last night in a crowded loft-like space in Toronto, designer Amanda Lew Kee presented her Fall 2012 collection off the runway in a short fashion film titled The Design of The Designer. “It was a no-brainer to combine the film and runway aspect of production. You either change before the masses or follow after the classes,” shared Lew Kee who did her best to do something different amongst the cookie-cutter shows at Toronto Fashion Week.
The shared viewing experience, with press, fans and cool kids, didn’t offer the best visibility of the new line but from what we saw the collection was a sea of black leather separates all worn by Lew Kee projected on two white sheets. As the designer turned model strutted on screen, flashes of fringe style skirts, slick bombers and signature sheer details summed up the 10 look line.
Perhaps next season we’ll be able to hit play and livestream Lew Kee’s line front row from the comfort of our desks.
