Typically reserved for celebrities of such magnitude they require no explanation, single names are rare for a reason. In the case of Zendaya, the 18-year-old model-actress-singer, the distinction is well earned. Her resumé is stacked beyond her years: she has a hit single, “Replay,” that’s garnered almost 80 million YouTube views; she’s the lead in an upcoming sitcom, the Disney Channel’s K. C. Undercover, which she’s also co-producing; and she was the one-time pick to play Aaliyah in the Lifetime movie about the late singer. Zendaya has also caught the eye of the original solo-namer, Madonna—she landed the fall campaign for the pop icon’s clothing line, Material Girl. Her own red-carpet wins have spanned a gender-bending spectrum from feminine palettes and leggy designs to borrowed-from-the-boys fits. Whichever direction she’s headed, we’re following.
