Chris Gelinas: The Canadian-born designer is picking up steam with his technically focused, always feminine pieces. There’s nothing like supporting homegrown talent (especially when he has a LVMH Young Fashion Designer Prize shortlist nom under his belt).
Proenza Schouler: We’re all still eBaying the pieces from Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez’s 2010 collection (that acidy surf stuff!). They’ve been dictating what the cool girls wear ever since.
I just snagged two winter coats—together for under $150—from 96 Tears Vintage in Toronto’s Parkdale neighbourhood. I can’t tell you the compliments I get on my seemingly one-of-a-kind coats—they just don’t make ’em like they used to. And in true cold-weather-me fashion, I’ve snagged a pair of totally winter-inappropriate Aldo slip-ons. Don’t worry—I’ll be pairing them with man-repelling socks.
My survival item: Dry shampoo! Trust me, I’ve tested every single affordable brand out there and Tresemmé Fresh Start Volumizing takes the cake. Between the sweaty subway (the fastest way to get around!) and the even sweatier packed runway locations, a little spritz here and there will keep me from looking like I’m doing 12-hours days (even though I am).
