The start of a new year marks a clean sartorial slate and there’s nothing better than making resolutions for your wardrobe to get the year off to a stylish start. To help you turn over a new fashion leaf, we reflect on some of the past year’s trends that you may want to banish from your fashion repertoire. Repeat after us…
Thou shall not overdose on leopard print—while it’s still fun to take a walk on the wild side, we recommend toning down the head to toe animal print for the New Year. Instead, reach for spring’s bold stripes if you are in the mood for a little pattern.
Thou shall not be a slave to heels—This past year, we saw some of the most vertiginous shoes of all time. While we can marvel at their beauty, these sky-high heels were not made for walking. This season, we will be giving our feet a break and reaching for more user-friendly alternatives.
Thou shall not wear visible bras—one of the wackiest trends from 2010, this year we think it’s time to cover up and ditch the exposed bra look.
Thou shall not wear unnecessary fur—We saw an abundance of fur from boots and jackets to full-on getups at Chanel. While fur will always be in style, we definitely advise to wear it in moderation in the coming year.
Thou shall not wear socks and heels—This odd combination popped up all over the runways and was adopted by eager trendsetters everywhere, but we think it’s time to bid farewell to the sockettes and go back to bare feet for 2011.
