It’s well known by now that Evan Rachel Wood has a serious case of Bieber Fever: the actress confessed to New York magazine last spring, and later posted a video on YouTube of herself doing a karaoke rendition of “U Smile.”
On Jimmy Fallon last night, Wood explained how her infatuation began. After going to see Justin Bieber: Never Say Never to “make fun of it,” she and her friends ended up admitting tearfully that it was “the greatest movie [they had] ever seen.” While she herself was surprised by this turn of events, Wood soon learned to embrace it. “I love Portishead, I love Radiohead, I love the Requiem for a Dream soundtrack, but I love Justin Bieber,” she declared.
When asked if she would give the audience “a little taste of the Biebs,” the actress happily jumped to the challenge. “Can I get some swag?” she called out and, after donning the leather jacket tossed her way, launched into one of the best performances of “Baby” we’ve ever seen (her Bieber-esque haircut definitely added to the effect). We’re used to watching Wood bawl in movies – see Thirteen, The Wrestler, The Ides of March – so seeing her unleash her love for The Biebs is a refreshing change. -Allison Friedman
