TV Character #TBT: Kelly Kapowski

Today, we honor one TV character we always (secretly) wanted to be or at least hang with, Saved By the Bell’s Kelly Kapowski

Written by Alex Brown

Part total knock-out, part sweet girl next door, let’s face it: we all kind of wanted to be like Kelly Kapowski at one point or another. She was Zach Morris’ only girl, until she left him for that college guy (I want to say…Eric?). But no matter who she was dating, Kelly Kapowski was bubbly, fun, kind-hearted, down-to-earth, had great hair—basically, she was all the things. Hence, our Throwback Thursday, spring break-style dedication to the incomparable Ms. Kapowski.

Besides occupying the role of best female character on Saved by the Bell, Kelly had the cutest outfits and no doubt had good taste in books, beauty, and tunes, right? If you’re like me, you wonder about these things: what would the modern-day Kelly Kapowski wear, read, style her hair with, and listen to while doing all of the above? Let’s find out.

Outfit: Kelly had a big thing for short shorts and bright colours (it was the early 90s). We bet she’d celebrate spring break with these goodies: Tropical Print Paddlepop Lace Shorts from Sabo Skirt, and Jaden Tropical Bralet and Candy Strappy Sandals from Misguided.

Beauty Routine:

•    Hairspray (duh!)
•    Philosophy’s sweet strawberry smelling soap
•    Light purple OPI nail polish
•    Sun light

Book of choice: Jacqueline Susann’s Valley of the Dolls, which follows the lives of three young female friends struggling to make careers for themselves in New York City. Kelly was smart, too!

Playlist: Super pop dance tracks. Anything you can move to.

1) Somebody Loves You by Betty Who
2) SuperLove by Charlie XCX
3) This is How to Be a Heartbreaker by Marina and the Diamonds
4) Girlfriend by Icona Pop
5) I Took a Little Something by Florrie
