Not only does the Revolutionary Road star opt to fly commercial flights instead of chartering jets, (which use more fuel), he also drives a hybrid car and lives in a house with solar panels. Adding to his cause is a string of environmental-based documentaries including: Global Warning, Water Planet, 11th Hour and, most recently, Eco Town. He’s on several boards such as Natural Resources Defense Council, Global Green USA and International Fund for Animal Welfare. 6. Forest Crusaders: STING AND TRUDIE STYLER

Founded in 1989, Sting and Trudie Styler’s Rainforest Foundation Fund continues to help preserve tropical forests and protect and support indigenous peoples. This year marks their 16th “Some Kinda Legacy Benefit” concert – last year’s lineup included Feist and Bill Joel. They also had a hand in the Sundance documentary Crude about the environmental damage Chevron has done to the Amazon.

Heroes hottie/musician Hayden Panettiere may be young, but she’s already doing her part for the environment. It was front-page fodder when she was arrested for interfering with a dolphin and whale hunt in Japan, she’s an active member of the Whaleman Foundation dedicated to preserving marine life and she won the Wyler Award for raising awareness on animal issues. Plus, she turned up at the Green Inaugural Ball for President Obama.

The Canadian beauty exemplifies the phrase “model citizen”; not only is she the organizer and spokesperson for the Earth Pledge FutureFashion show and the caretaker of a compost unit, but Harlow has also gone on “earth saving” missions with ForestEthics. Among the environmental organization’s many campaigns to protect endangered forests is Do Not Mail, which aims to do to junk mail what the Do Not Call registry did to telemarketers. Cameron Diaz’s bio is full of environmental activism. The Charlie’s Angels star joined Al Gore in the Save Our Selves (SOS) campaign for a Climate in Crisis. She also starred in Trippin, an MTV program that follows her and friends (think Drew Barrymore and Jessica Alba) as they travel the globe and learn the importance of protecting the environment. As a member of the Environmental Media Association, she has filmed public service announcements. And, she worked on the documentary Power Shift that explored alternative energy sources.
