Some major fashion darlings got shout outs in this year’s Time 100 list–Time magazine’s annual list of the world’s 100 most influential people–which was unveiled yesterday. The usual suspects like Oprah and Hilary Clinton are on there, but a number of this year’s list-makers have influenced the style world too. Here’s a list of the top five fashion phenoms from 2011’s Time 100.

1. Tom Ford

The most obvious trendsetter in the group, Ford is the only person on the list who actually works in the fashion industry. A former creative director at Gucci and YSL, he also now has his own Tom Ford brand which just recently opened its newest boutique in Beverly Hills.

2. Kate Middleton
Kate Middleton’s fairytale romance with Prince William has captured the attention of well, everyone with her blue Issa dress she wore for her engagement announcement. Naturally the most talked about aspect of her upcoming nuptials is what she’ll be wearing with Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen and Sophie Cranston of Libelula both among the rumoured designers.

3. Blake Lively
Not only does this Gossip Girl star have impeccable style on screen, but she knows how to work it off screen too.  So much so that she’s now the face of the Chanel Mademoiselle handbag.

4. Michelle Obama
The public always has an eye on the first lady’s threads, making her a style icon for North American women (even if they do occasionally knit pick over the length of her shorts).

5. Mia Wasikowska
This Australian thespian is quickly becoming a powerhouse in Tinseltown. She’s building a reputation on the red carpet, wearing designers like Elie Saab and Stella McCartney, and donned costumes that went on to Oscar glory when she played the title role in Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland.–Ashley Singh
