It’s an haute couture head-to-head for the best dressed title on the opening night of the Toronto International Film Festival.
Kristen Stewart arrived in Toronto for the On the Road premiere, making her first public appearance since the cheating scandal that has dominated the tabloid headlines for weeks. The actress wore a streamlined Zuhair Murad dress with long sleeves that would have been demure were it not made of see-through black mesh and lace covered with sequin floral embellishments. Her hair was pulled back into a half-up/half-down style with slick sides and very slightly messy texture. Stewart isn’t known for looking overly glossy on the red carpet, but she’s developing a rep for looking dressed up without being too “done”–it’s proving to be a stunning combination.
Marion Cotillard, on the other hand, has perfected looking done up. The Rust & Bone star has joined the line of celebs who have been sporting looks from Raf Simons’s first couture collection for Christian Dior. The French actress chose a strapless, grey, knee-length sheath dress with a very subtle peplum detail at the hips. Cotillard is never a flashy dresser, but she added some unexpected touches of colour with pointy blue slingbacks and bright, lemon-yellow nails. The highlight of the look was a stunning updo that swooped like a wave at the top of her head.
Who had your favourite look on Day 1 of TIFF? Was it Kristen Stewart’s sexy-cool ensemble? Or Marion Cotillard’s demure Dior?
