It’s the morning of the Globes and though the broadcast is still hours away, you can be sure that hair and makeup teams are already in the thick of it. It takes hours to doll up a face properly for a huge red carpet event. I talked with one of my favorite makeup artists today, M.A.C Cosmetics/Exclusive Artists Management’s Gregory Arlt, about what makeup trends we can expect to see on the red carpet, and how he’ll be making up Kaley Cuoco, of the nominated show The Big Bang Theory.
“We’re in that transitional moment between winter and spring as far as makeup trends are concerned, but it’s always summer here in LA! Golds, bronzes, and warmer tones I predict will dominate the red carpet today. Coppers and peachy gold shadows with blackened plums or eggplant liner around the eyes with a warm cheek and soft lip may be the answer to ‘smoky’ eyes this season. Hopefully we’ll also see a retro glam look, but updated with a modern twist, a clean shimmery eye and a red lip, but possibly an orange red or a pink/fuchsia red as opposed to a ‘fire engine’ red. A little more flirty and playful than ultra sophisticated.”
And what about Cuoco’s look for today? “I can’t reveal too much until after, but think glowing, shimmery, and soft!”
