Taylor Swift proved to her fans in Grand Rapids, Michigan that she’s more than just a country singer–she’s a rap superstar now too. T-Swizzle paid homage to hometown hero Eminem at the show on July 27 by covering his hit song “Lose Yourself.”
Taylor opens the song with a “Yo” and then spits out some rapid-fire Eminem lyrics (“His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy”), which the crowd knew every lyric to. The singer-turned-rapper then launched into a cover of Uncle Kracker’s “Smile.”
Taylor’s been covering hometown artists at each stop on her Speak Now tour. While she was in Toronto on July 15 she played a Canadian medley, which included Alanis Morissette’s “You Learn,” the Bieb’s “Baby,” and her “favourite ’90s song ever” Tal Bachman’s “She’s So High.” Canadian fans can look forward to more Canuck covers when she plays Edmonton on August 18 and 19, then Vancouver on September 10 and 11.
