Who says fashion can’t be more than a pretty face? Stars stomped the runway at Toronto’s Cube nightclub Thursday, August 16, to raise funds for Diesel’s ONExONE foundation – a non-profit organization focused on improving children’s lives in Canada, the United States, and abroad, as well as improving conditions in Haiti.
Hosted by former Fashion Television host Glen Baxter, the night saw fashion-forward celebs like Jully Black, Kardinal Offishall and Stacey McKenzie model Diesel’s latest fall/winter collection. Think leather motorcycle jackets, snakeskin-printed shirtdresses, and Diesel’s signature denim pieces, from jumpsuits to coloured pants.
“I love anytime the fashion community can get behind a cause,” said host Baxter. “A lot of people think fashion is frivolous, so it’s always nice to see people in the community raising money and awareness for great causes.”
Funds raised from the show will go towards a pediatric ward in a newly built hospital in Haiti, which the foundation has pledged more than $3 million towards. Founded by Joey Adler, CEO of Diesel Canada, the foundation is known for putting on sparkly events, with noted guests like Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, Ben Affleck, Kate Hudson and Bono all attending in the past. As TIFF approaches you can expect even more ONExONE festivities, including a star-studded pancake breakfast in front of the Toronto-Dominion Centre (pancakes and celebs, how can we say no?). — Christian Allaire
