For its 25th anniversary, legendary fundraiser Fashion Cares has enlisted an appropriately fabulous headliner: Sir Elton John. The 64-year-old will perform when the gala returns after a three year hiatus on September 9, 2012 at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts.
The event, co-chaired by Elton John’s Canadian husband David Furnish and Fashion Cares’ chair Michael King, will feature an intimate dinner, a retrospective of the past 25 years of Fashion Cares, and a live show with performances by Sir Elton John and other high-profile, international musicians. In the past, performers have included Katy Perry, Mya, Dita Von Teese, and Patti LaBelle with celebrity presenters such as Linda Evangelista and Pamela Anderson.
Tickets for the event will go on sale beginning March 2012, with a complete list of performers to be announced in early spring. Proceeds will go to the AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT), the event’s longstanding partner, and the Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF).–Erin Fitzsimmons
