Saoirse Ronan Cast In Stephenie Meyer's “The Host”

The "Hanna" star will get in touch with her inner alien in an adaptation of the "Twilight" author's adult novel.

Is Saoirse Ronan the next Kristen Stewart? After scoring raves as a junior assassin in the hit thriller Hanna, the 17-year-old has taken the lead role in Twilight author Stephenie Meyer’s adult novel The Host. Ronan, who was nominated for an Oscar at age 13 for Atonement, will play the dual roles of Melanie Stryder and Wanderer, an alien soul that takes over her body (as alien souls do).

The Host
’s producers Nick Wechsler and Steve and Paula Mae Schwartz, who took a stab at apocalyptic drama on the Viggo Mortensen movie The Road, will be selling the project based on “Next Twilight” buzz at the Cannes Film Festival when it kicks off on Wednesday, May 11. Until then, fans of supernatural melodrama can look forward to the first part of Breaking Dawn, Twilight’s final chapter, being released November 18.
