Kate Middleton's Portrait is Unveiled in London

The Dutchess of Cambridge's first official portrait is hung in the London Gallery along with the rest of the royal family's.

Portrait by Paul Emsley

You’re not officially a royal until your portrait is hanging in UK’s famous London Gallery. It looks like Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, is officially in the family (unless you count the royal wedding and baby!).

After months of anticipation her portrait, painted by award-winning artist Paul Emsley, was unveiled today in a private viewing before it went on display to the public. “The fact she is a beautiful woman is for an artist difficult,” Emsley said. “In the end I think what I tried to do really was to convey something about her warmth and her smile.”

In a burgundy A-line dress from Whistles, that hit right at her knees, she described the portrait as “amazing.” Unfortunately not all critics are saying the same (the wrinkles, the shadows, oh my!). But, the Royals didn’t mention anything negative about the piece of art, Prince William said it was “beautiful.”
